Okay, so that doesn't make any sense, but who cares? This one really boils my blood. Yeah, the Hoyas deserve the credit and all that, but come on. This was a first rate, off the charts, paging Mama Cass choke job by the Tar Heels.
Up 10 points with 7:19, getting every single call? With how many NBA players sitting on the bench? Roy Williams might have shed his reputation as a guy who can't win the big one with that 2005 championship, but he most certainly should have won THIS one.
And I'm not just steamed because I picked them in the Final Four. Okay, so that's the primary reason. I was three-for-three in the office pool with UCLA, Florida and Ohio State. I just needed North Carolina to complete the perfect pick. And then the Tar Heels started settling for bad shots from the perimeter. They stopped playing defense.
And what was Williams speech before overtime? What was he saying in those time outs? "We just didn't make enough shots down the stretch today," Williams said. "Georgetown got the ball inside better than we did, and the shots that we had, we didn't make."
Ol' Roy has a wealth of experience talking about chokes, doesn't he?

1 year, 9 months agoNot for nothing but betting against Thompson, Ewing and Hoyas in march has been a good bet for a long time. 1 title and no final fours since 85. Georgetown has choked ALMOST as much as Carolina.

1 year, 9 months agoWhy try to win the game in regulation on a 3 point shot by Ellington? If they had any sense they would have got the ball down low to Wright or Hansborough. As many fouls that were called on the Hoyas the Heels probably could have drawn another one and won the game from the free throw line.
