Welcome to the Dance, Portland State
Ah, you gotta love a first timer. Can you remember your first time? Bracket Boy sure can. He still has the ticket stubs.
What, did you think I was talking about something else?
Anyway, Portland State is in the field, and let's take a moment to enjoy their arrival. The Portland State mott is, "Let knowledge serve the city." The city in question is, I'm relatively sure, Portland, Oregon. Its mascot is "the Vikings" -- Vikings in Oregon? Who knew! -- and its colors are green and white. It was founded in 1946 as the Vanport Extension Center to satisfy the demand for higher education in Portland for returning World War II veterans. At least, that's what I read on Wikipedia. Courtney Love went to Portland State, although, apparently, she did not graduate.
So there you have it. I'm guessing this will be the last time we talk about Portland State, your 2008 Big Sky champions.

9 months, 4 weeks agoI had a team from Oregon winning it all last year, Oregon U. The Elite Eight ended my hopes (I now hate Florida so much I burned all my Marlins cards), but now I can start from scratch. To a basketball renaissance in 2008, with the weakest bubble in decades as the topic!
