The Carolina Breakdown
You could win a lot of games with a team of Carolina stars -- just think of all the talent that you're leaving on the bench.
All-time Starting Five:
James Worthy … the silky-smooth forward is one of the greatest college and professional players of all-time.
Michael Jordan … for years, His Airness has lifted the averaging income of UNC geography majors by about $5,000.
Lennie Rosenbluth … despite being just 6-foot-5, he averaged 27.8 points and 8.6 rebounds during the season as UNC went undefeated in 1957.
Phil Ford … the three-time consensus All-American is the school’s leading scorer with 2,290 points and one of Dean Smith’s favorites.
Antawn Jamison … averaged nearly a double-double during his three seasons in the paint for the Tar Heels.
Beat Team
With apologies to the undefeated ’57 team, it’s hard to top a team with Jordan, Worthy and Sam Perkins on the court, and Dean Smith on the bench. The Tar Heels went 32-2 during the 1981-82 season.
